Today, I have achieved a little success I have been working on for the last 5 months and as a treat to myself, I decided to open a very special gift from a friend in Adelaide.
This gift is a special request I asked from a fellow nurse/creative artist I met through a very dear friend.
I noticed her talent and was amazed at her skills for the first time sometime almost a year ago (2019) until I got to meet her in person. I asked her if she could paint me anything that reflects culture, tradition and of course, Filipino themed. She came up with this magnificent piece - an original artwork made of passion and love, carved through time in her own imagination.
I opened her parcel today, after months of sitting in my home office and endured the moving stage from one house to another. I carefully peeled off every tape on the box, slowly cut its edges and felt like it's the most delicate gift I ever opened. It was wrapped in gold paper tissue, protected by extra cardboard, bubble wrap, and the parcel box itself. Tucked in the middle of these is also a heartwarming hand-written letter from the artist herself @kayemeana 💕
I couldn't be more proud of how beautifully she executed this painting in such a magical combination of colors and strokes. I can't wait to hang it up the wall on a photo ledge inside my home studio (if the bigboss allows me to drill some holes🤫).
Sure, it will find its perfect spot in her new home, surrounded by Barong Tagalog and Filipiniana - where she truly belongs❤️🏡
