Just realized today marks the 365th day since I moved into my tiny little amazing surf shack studio in Pacific Beach.
So incredibly grateful for the past year, the ups and downs, and for being exactly where I am today. I wouldn’t change a single thing.
Last year I was technically “homeless” by choice for about 9 months, from December to August, but nobody except my closest friends knew. Not even anyone in my family, because I never wanted to tell them and cause them to worry or have them feel they needed to help me. I didn’t feel homeless and never (or very rarely, I should say) let it get me down. If I did it was a fleeting feeling created by comparing my life to what society deems is “correct.” Many nights I slept in my car or in a sleeping bag, right on this very beach, waking up in solitude to an incredible sunrise over the bay, feeling like I was the only person in the world. I didn’t feel like I was a failure or anything, I just knew it was part of my journey and I loved it. Everything I needed at any time was easily found (somewhere, and after some rummaging) within my tiny, dependable car. Seriously, everything. Home was actually wherever my heart physically was. Talk about convenience! Btw huge shoutout to @deg.avtar @jeremyd.salmon and Corey for all the fun nights I slept in a little space on their carpeted floor, felt like a slumber party every time hahaha so many laughs, it was the best! 4 guys in a single tiny one bedroom right next to the beach, all loving life. Getting up at 330 to drive to Guru Mantra’s and @khalsameherbani ’s home downtown to practice kundalini. Perfect summer days.
I’ve recently learned and witnessed that the only way you can change your environment is by changing yourself, intrinsically, from within. Then watch as the magic unfolds around you. Take care, though, because the change within can be good or bad, and will thus be reflected back at you as such. Needless to say, I feel I’m already in heaven. Super excited what the next 365 days will bring. Wahe Guru, Sat Nam, Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, Rakhe Rakhanhar, ad infinitum :) 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😊💯✌🏼love you guys
