Hey guys! I loved being in a bubble skirt for Peachette, so I wanted to make a tutorial for how I patterned it!
I basically flat patterned it. I knew my waist size, how many panels I wanted, and how long t needed to be. My waist was about 30 inches, so divide that by 6, and add half an inch on either side for seam allowance, I needed my panels to be 6 inches wide at the top, I then took some large pieces of paper and drew out my pattern to the right width at the top, and the length I wanted it. I folded this pattern in half, then drew the curved shape I wanted and curved the bottom to give the scalloped look she has. I cut 6 panels from this, sewed it together, added ribbon to the waistband, and added an invisible zipper on the side. I used the same size for the pink skirt, except I added about a quarter of an inch on the seams to help it lay better on top. I sewed bias tape going around the skirt at three different points (the first photo only shows two) and put metal boning I bought on Amazon through it (it was 1/4th of an inch wide boning). I gathered tulle along the boning so it would not be visible through the pink layer, it still was lol. So, We added another petticoat in between these two layers to smooth it out more. I finished the bottom of the skirt with a thin bias tape. I really wanted the bubble shape Peachette has, and I couldn't find any petticoats the right shape. I hope this tutorial helps, and let us know if you have any questions!
